When Kimmie was screaming on Christmas Eve just because a piece of apple, I thought he was simply a crazy father. But looking at the cross-shaped stick I could find some unusual things. There were several scenes, starting with simply a sports event related to the Golden Ball, dressing and putting on makeup as if he were dealing with his wife after her death, hanging a letter, and tying the words love and forgive. When celebrating sports events or holidays, I thought it was just for fun, but I thought that the stick represented father's life when he treated stick as his wife, when he wrote letters or hung words. I also thought that the scene where a young couple came in and the stick was thrown away also meant the end of father's. And maybe he loves his kids but the way he shows it is so complicated for kids to unndertand.

 This was the shortest story I have read, but I think it contains deep meanings and metaphors so that it can make us feel and think about something regardless of its length.(185 words)

 In So far, we have learned about James Joyce through ‘the Sisters’, ‘Arabi’ and ‘Eveline’. When I read these short stories in order, the first thing I thought about was that the characters that make up these stories are slowly growing. There was a little boy and a boy who grew up little more and fell in love with the girl next door and a lady with the sailor. In this context, if I read more stories in the future, I expect that character in the story will grow and finally deal with the death of one person. In addition, reading James Joyce's stories, I began to think that all the dramatic and exaggerated stories are not shown in James Joyce’s stories and rather it seemed to deal with something more realistic and this made me to understand stories easier. First of all, thinking about Nikolai, Nikolai married his rich wife for money, and eventually succeeded in buying land and planting gooseberries in the countryside. However, Ivan thinks he is deceiving himself that he is arrogant and happy. However, from Nicolai's point of view, he achieved ownership of private land in the countryside like his childhood dream and was satisfied with eating gooseberries planted himself.   The Semplica-Girl Diaries- by George Saunders Rating:7/10   First of all, it was written in the form of a diary, so it felt very unique from the perspective of reading it. I think I got to think about wealth. It was a real shock to be a Semplica Girl. In fact, I couldn't believe that people in areas like Laos were acting as living dolls to make money, but I couldn't believe the scene where they said it wasn't sad because they made money and gave their families a better life. However, at the same time, I felt that SG was recognized as a symbol of wealth. Also, I thought that it didn’t make sense to feel liberated by winning the lottery,by taking away the freedom of Semplica Girl.
